42% of UK marriages end in divorce

The average cost of divorce is £14,000

One-third of people regret getting divorced

That’s why I developed Make or Break Coaching

What is Make or Break Coaching?

I help couples on the brink of separation, gain clarity on the right path for them.

If a respectful parting is the right decision, I will guide you through the process and if you choose to build a successful relationship, I will give you all the tools and strategies you need.

I’m passionate about helping you make the right decision for the direction of your relationship. My mission is to help you avoid the misery of getting it wrong and throwing away a perfectly good relationship.

Who is Make or Break Coaching for?

This is for you if:

  • One of you is half way out the door but your partner is begging you to stay
  • One of you has had an affair and you can’t see a way back from the devastation
  • You have grown apart and the feelings have gone
  • Your relationship feels too good to leave, yet too bad to stay.

Sometimes one person is leaning towards wanting the relationship to continue and the other is leaning towards separation. Sometimes both people are leaning towards ending it, but they want to be sure that this is the right decision.

How does Make or Break Coaching work?

Make or Break Coaching ends the agony of indecision. You will know once and for all, what to do for the best.

In the Decision Phase you will establish/determine which of the 2 paths your relationship will take:

• Building your new relationship together
• Moving into the process of separation or divorce

People think that if they decide to split, they won’t have to talk to their partner any more. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Sadly costs and emotions escalate when conversations happen through solicitors. So whichever path is right for you this programme will equip you with the tools and strategies needed.

How is Make or Break Coaching different from traditional couples counselling?

In traditional couples counselling, you are usually seen together and the focus is on repairing and rebuilding the relationship by increasing intimacy, reducing toxicity and improving communication. The reason this doesn’t work for make or break couples is that one or both of the partners is leaning too far out of the relationship and they are typically, unwilling to consider any repair work.

In the main, I work with you individually. We will gain an understanding of the problems that have arisen in the relationship and take an honest look at the role each of you has played in their creation and escalation. This work underpins whichever path you choose because if you decide to leave, you won’t want to drag the same negative patterns into your next relationship. If you decide to stay and build a successful relationship, this knowledge will form the cornerstone of your future happiness together.

If you decide to create your new future together, I will work with you to deal constructively with your problems and help you create greater connection and intimacy.

“Most of us are going to have two or three marriages or committed relationships in our adult life in the West today, and some of us are gonna do it with the same person.”

Jayne Newman,

MA, HPD, MBACP, NCH(Reg.)

I’m passionate about helping you make the right decision for the direction of your relationship. My mission is to help you avoid the misery of getting it wrong and throwing away a perfectly good relationship.

After a decade and a half of coaching and counselling people, a master’s degree in family and relationship therapy from The University of Hull and a 4 year tour of duty at the UK’s biggest relationship charity, Relate (formerly the Marriage Guidance Council) I knew I had to do something to make a bigger impact on the problem.

The vision of Make or Break Coaching became crystal clear when I completed my mediator training in 2021. In my mediation work I kept thinking, if only these people had found me first as a relationship therapist, it might have been different. I knew we needed a bridge between these two worlds to stop couples falling through the cracks.
